La Vie de Cocagne, Luxury House Rental near Honfleur and Golf Courses in Deauville, Normandy

Located in Normandy, in the heart of " pays d'Auge " region, 5 minutes from the A13 motorway exit, 15 minutes from Deauville and 20 minutes from Honfleur and le Havre, La Vie de Cocagne is much more than a gite or a holiday rental.

Probably built in the 18th century, the house is a former half-timbered stable and still recently was our donkeys and horse retreat.

Entirely renovated in 2007, it is now a comfortable cottage, sleeping 6 people, surrounded by fields and countryside, mixing family house spirit (family furniture, Farrow & Ball paintings) and contemporary interiors (stainless steel appliances, flat screen television, hifi, wifi…).

A spacious lounge area, opened to the roof with large windows on the garden, the terrace and the meadows : two wide and comfortable chocolate sofas, wood stove, large LCD screen with satellite TV offering approximately 300 channels (french and international), hifi, wifi.

The dining area, opened on the kitchen, the lounge and the terrace. It offers six comfortable seats.

The kitchen fully equipped : slate work tops, , stainless steel appliances (fridge, dish washer, microwave, washing machine, hob and oven, extractor fan, filter and Espresso coffee machine, toaster…), kitchenware.

The three bedrooms, two on the ground floor and one on the first floor.

Côté Sud, one of the three bedrooms, decorated in beige and chocolate with a double bed and ensuite bathroom with shower room in Italian slate.  Views of our fields where we have our donkeys Basilic and Chocolat and our horse Amour.  

Côté Nord, our second ground floor double bedroom decorated in  orange and chocolat, double bed and ensuite bathroom with shower room in Itlaian slate.  Views of our gardens.

First floor double or twin room depending on your choice.

Location:
Our village, Bonnebosq is located on the Cider Route, one of the nicest place of the Pays d'Auge area, Normandy's postcard.

Apple trees, tiny roads, half-timbered houses, horse breeding farms : a generous land still offering its famous cheeses (Pont l'evêque, camembert and Livarot), cider and calvados, butter and cream, seafood…).

A few kilometers away, Deauville and its famous boardwalk, casino, horsetrack,golf courses,  Honfleur and its narrow streets and painter's shops, Trouville and its fishmarket and sandy beach.

Around, you will be able to discover chateaux and manor houses, gardens (Cambremer, Canon, Vendeuvre, Crèvecoeur-en-Auge), listed villages (Beaumont-en-Auge, Beuvron-en-Auge) and many more fantastic landscapes and places, which always been loved by famous guests : Gide, Proust, Monet, Guizot, Schlumberger brothers, Yul Brynner, Claudia Cardinale…

New Golf  Deauville 15 minutes - 27 holes
27 Holes of superb parkland golf and ranked in Normandy's top 3. Originally designed by Tom Simpson with Henry Cotton adding the Blue nine. Stunning views across the Channel. Not easy to book on weekends in main season.

Amiraute Golf Course 10 minutes  - 25 holes
Built on a former stud farm this 18 hole (6055m-par 73) course has real champioship potential as well as some challenging water obstacles. With 7 Floodlit holes the course is unique in Europe while the 17 ornamental statues add a cultural aspect.

Golf de Saint Julien 10 minutes  - 27 holes
Lucien Barriere has transformed this excellent parkland layout into a much better quality course. Big changes to the design and layout make it one of the best now in Normandy. The greens as always are first class and fast!

Houlgate Golf Course 15 minutes 18 holes
It is very varied course, each hole being technically different but all complementing each other. Some holes go uphill, others go downhill, like the 15th hole, an exceptional par 5 that offers incredible views over the Channel. The setting is unique, very orchard-like. The first three holes border water in the valley in the grounds of the Château de Beuzeval.
